Langfan Teens for Israel Advocacy Initiative
During the first weekend of March, fourteen teens traveled to Washington DC to participate in the AIPAC Policy Conference. This was part of the Langfan Teens for Israel Advocacy Initiative.
Teens were selected for this program based on merit and previous engagement at Temple Emanu-El and the community. They met bi-weekly prior to AIPAC Policy Conference to learn about the issues that were going to be spoken about, lobbying techniques, and what to expect while there.
The youth were engaged, excited, and excellent participants the entire time.
The Langfan Teens for Israel Advocacy Initiative was generously funded by Bill Langfan.
"My passion for the Jewish state is immense. Being with 14,000 people meeting in the capitol of America who share that passion was such a powerful experience. I felt a connection to every person there, the same kind of connection I feel when I’m in Israel. Hearing Prime Minister Netanyahu, John Kerry, John Mccain and other incredible speakers inspired me to continue my support and advocacy for the Jewish state in an even greater way. If you think you know and care about Israel now, going to AIPAC will only expand your knowledge and make your passion greater. That’s what it did for me."
- Allie Taylor, 11th Grade, Oxbridge Academy
"Going to AIPAC was an amazing experience. I had the privilege of listening to inspiring speakers talk about their Pro-Israel stance and their experiences with AIPAC and Israel. Speakers ranged from Benjamin Netanyahu to John Kerry to John McCain to Reverend Dr. DeeDee Coleman. Through the breakout sessions, I was able to become an informed and knowledgeable advocate for my homeland and the country that I love. I also was able to make a true difference in strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship and strengthening sanctions on Iran and its nuclear program by lobbying both my Senators and Representatives including Marco Rubio, Bill Nelson, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Lois Frankel. All in all, I could not have asked for a better, more invigorating, more interesting, and more inspiring three days in our nation's capital. I hope that I can come back year after year, becoming more and more involved, making AIPAC and Israel advocacy a regular part of my life and my identity."
